City Services: Thanksgiving weekend 2020
We're adjusting our hours of operation for Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020
Getting around
Calgary Transit
- October 10: the pedestrian ramp at Brentwood station will be closed on the Brentwood Co-op side until 7 p.m. There will be no impact to Red Line service. The stairs are still open. Customers with accessibility requirements needing access to/from Brentwood Road NW, please refer to the signage at the pedestrian bridge or visit calgarytransit.com/service-updates for options.
- October 10-13: Beginning October 10 until the early morning of October 13 (before service starts), the Red Line will be closed between City Hall and 39 Avenue stations. Buses will replace train service between impacted stations, running every 5 minutes.
- Visit calgarytransit.com/service-updates for more information and live updates.
- October 10-12: We will be running a Sunday level of service on Monday, along with normal weekend service. Check our schedules page to find out when your bus is running.
Adaptive Roadways
In preparation of winter, The City will be removing most of the lane closures put in place to accommodate physical distancing along popular walking and cycling routes. This will occur on Tuesday Oct. 13, 2020. Lane closures put in place to accommodate restaurant patios on sidewalks will remain in place until 2 cms or more of snow is forecasted in Calgary.
88 Street SE
In order to take advantage of the good weather we’ve been experiencing this fall, crews working on the 88 Street SE Extension project are planning to place gravel and begin paving during Thanksgiving weekend (Oct. 11 and 12). This extra weekend work will allow crews to complete as much construction as possible this fall before colder conditions set in. Final road completion is scheduled for Summer 2021.
Calgary Parking Authority
Holiday rates will be in effect at select CPA surface lots and parkades. Payment is not required for on-street ParkPlus zones on Monday, Oct. 12 for Thanksgiving. Regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo and TELUS Spark while parking will be free at Heritage Park.
CPA's main office location (620 9 Ave SW) and the Impound Lot (400 39 Ave SE) will be closed on Monday, Oct. 12. Online payments and appeals can be made at calgaryparking.com.
