Getting around

Calgary Transit 

Over the Labour Day weekend we adjust our service hours. On Monday, Sept. 2, we will be operating buses, CTrains, and On Demand on a Sunday level of service. 

Fall service changes also come into effect starting Sept. 2. View the full list of changes, including the new and modified routes in the northwest, at calgarytransit.com/Fall2024.

The Red Line will be closed between Sunnyside and Brentwood stations starting Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m., until noon on Monday, Sept. 2. Find more details on this service disruption at calgarytransit.com/CTrain-service.

Part of 9 Avenue downtown will be closed due to the Calgary Pride Parade on Sunday, Sept. 1, and some bus routes will be affected. Detour information is available at calgarytransit.com/Pride2024.

Parking 

Enjoy free parking in on-street ParkPlus zones on Monday, Sept. 2. Weekend rates apply at all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots. Please note that regular rates will be in effect at partner lots such as TELUS Spark, Calgary Stampede, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.

The Calgary Parking Contact Centre and Impound Lot will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2. For more information, please visit Calgary Parking.

Road closures 

Calgary Pride Parade Road closures: 
The following road closures will be in effect on Sunday, Sept. 1 to accommodate the Calgary Pride Parade:

• 9 Avenue will be closed from 8 Street S.E. in Inglewood to 11 Street S.W. in the Downtown west end until 3 p.m.
• 8 Street S.E. to 5 Street S.W. will be closed including multiple streets in East Village from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• 5 Street S.W. to 11 Street S.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bearspaw South Feeder Main construction road closures:
33 Avenue and 85 Street N.W. 
Aug. 25 at 9 a.m. to Sept. 27 at 11:59 a.m.

Road closures

While crews are working there will always be two lanes of eastbound traffic on 5 Avenue S.E. Sept. 1 there will be three eastbound lanes open during the Pride Parade.

• 4 Avenue Flyover reduced to a single lane.  
• Mission Bridge between 26 Avenue S.W. and Roxboro Road reduced to a single lane in each direction.  
• Sunnyside Flood Barrier: Eastbound Memorial Drive closed between 9 Street N.W. and Centre Street with two-way traffic on the north side westbound lanes.

Facility hours and closures

The following will be open on Monday, Sept. 2

Public skating

• Public skating will be offered on Monday, Sept. 2, from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at Southland Leisure Centre (2000 Southland Dr. S.W.).
• Regular admission applies. Check our arena rules before joining us. Equipment rentals are not available.

Public swimming

• Public swimming will be offered on Monday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at:
  • Village Square Leisure Centre (2623 56 St. N.E.)
  • Southland Leisure Centre (2000 Southland Dr. S.W.)
  • Regular admission applies.
     
• Glenmore Reservoir will be open during its regular hours for recreational use.
• All golf courses and driving ranges will be open this long weekend. 

The following will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2:

• All indoor pools, fitness centres and arenas (except for those mentioned under Public Skating and Public Swimming section above).
• Northmount and Wildflower arts centres
• Calgary Soccer Centre
