City Services: Family Day 2021

The City of Calgary is adjusting its hours of operation for Family Day on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.

Things to do

Chinook Blast
Local artists are illuminating our winter weekend nights from February 13 – 28 in the Chinook Blast Hub, an outdoor art park, as well as a number of partner art sites around downtown Calgary.

Capture moments among outdoor art and light installations, warm up fireside with your small cohort, take a recharging walking tour and plenty more! Check out our Programming page here.

YYC Hot Chocolate Fest
Warm up and get cozy with hot chocolate from a local business. Local cafes, restaurants and chocolatiers across the city are participating in YYC Hot Chocolate Fest with creative drinks throughout February.

Valentine’s Day & Kensington Love
Our partners at Tourism Calgary have a collection of fun things to see and do with your special someone on Cupid’s Day and throughout the month of February. Visit their website for more information.

Outdoor skating
Check out this handy Outdoor rinks map for the status of the outdoor skating rinks in your community.

Fitness videos
There are many different ways to stay active and healthy without leaving the house. Whether you’re into strength and conditioning, cardio and endurance or just need some new ideas for gentle movement to promote stress reduction and relaxation, our online fitness videos can be done anywhere at any time.

Activities for kids
Winters are long in Calgary and it’s easy to feel cooped up especially when the temperatures drop. Our Facebook page has all kinds of cool activities that require the kids to bundle up and head outside. Most of these ideas use common household items like soap and water for blowing ice bubbles, or repurposed empty milk cartons and yogurt containers to make sparkling ice castles.

Remember to dress for the weather. When it’s this cold, frostbite can set in quickly. Here’s a handy guide to help keep you and your family safe.
