City of Calgary supports provincial measures to reduce COVID-19 transmission

The Government of Alberta today announced further measures to slow the spread of COVID-19. The City of Calgary supports all efforts to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 to save lives and protect the healthcare system.

We are currently working through the new provincial public health guidelines to understand the impacts on our own operations and facilities. More information on specific programs and services will be updated on Calgary.ca/covid19.

The City will be working closely with The Province to determine how we can support at the local level, including enforcement of Public Health Orders.

Please familiarize yourself with the new requirements on the Government of Alberta website at www.alberta.ca/covid19. The City acknowledges how difficult additional restrictions are for individuals, families, businesses, and the mental and economic health of our city, but we encourage Calgarians to adhere to all public health guidance as we work together to reduce the threat to our health and our health care system.

The City plans to provide more information to the media about the restrictions and its operational response tomorrow.
