City of Calgary responds to Provincial decision on return of additional youth restrictions

CALGARY – April 15, 2021 - The Government of Alberta today announced that certain indoor youth sport and recreation activities will be required to take place outdoors to protect the health system and slow the spread of COVID-19

Effective, April 19, indoor sports and recreational activities in Calgary for youth Grades 7 to 12 will be required to move outdoors or be paused for a two-week period.

We are currently working through the updated Provincial public health measures to understand their impacts on our own operations, services and facilities. More information on specific City programs and services will be updated and released to the public on Calgary.ca/covid19 as it becomes available.

In the meantime, please continue to follow restrictions that remain in effect, which can be found at www.alberta.ca/covid19. The City acknowledges how difficult restrictions have been for individuals, families, businesses, and the mental and economic health of our city and we thank all Calgarians and businesses for their efforts to follow Provincial health orders.

We encourage Calgarians to continue to adhere to all public health guidance as we work together to reduce the threat to our health and our health care system.
