City of Calgary releases new community and ward profiles

Calgary’s ward and community profiles have recently been updated with data from the 2016 Census of Canada (federal census). The 2016 census provides the most current data available from Statistics Canada. Citizens can now access information on almost 200 residential communities in Calgary. Information includes:

o Population, age, sex, dwellings and households
o Families, households, and marital status
o Language
o Income and earnings
o Immigration and ethnocultural diversity
o Aboriginal peoples
o Housing and shelter costs
o Education
o Labour, place of work and commuting to work

Profiles are also available for Calgary’s 14 wards. Calgary’s ward profiles provide information about the population living in each ward from the 2016 Census of Canada. Ward profiles enable Calgarians to learn more about each of the wards that make up Calgary. Because of the significant changes to the ward boundaries in 2017, these ward profiles should not be compared to ward profiles from other years.

Attached is an example of a community profile.

Please visit calgary.ca/communities to learn more about each of our unique communities. Ward profiles can be found at calgary.ca/wards.
