City of Calgary reinstates State of Local Emergency

CALGARY - The City of Calgary has declared a State of Local Emergency (SOLE) to support efforts to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Effective today, The City of Calgary has declared a state of local emergency in an effort to more quickly redirect resources as required in light of growing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

The SOLE also allows The City to write local orders to clarify or deal with local challenges and quickly secure supplies needed to run essential services.

In addition, this SOLE helps us to take further actions to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

We are going to continue to use every tool in our toolbox and work extremely hard in the best interests of our citizens, communities and businesses.

We encourage citizens to practice COVID-19 recommendations of health officials including wearing masks in crowded spaces, maintaining physical distance, practicing proper handwashing and, most importantly, getting both doses of a COVID vaccine.
