Charges laid in shooting; still seeking vehicle

Calgary police have laid charges in a shooting that occurred over the weekend and are still looking for the occupants of a vehicle associated with the incident.

On Friday, June 5, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m., we received reports of shots being fired in the 0-100 block of Tarington Way N.E.

Yesterday, two individuals were charged with numerous firearm and other offenses in relation to the shooting.

Terrell CHOL, 25, of Calgary has been charged with:

  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm;
  • One count of possession of a firearm obtained by crime;
  • One count of careless use of a firearm;
  • One count of dangerous operation of a vehicle;
  • One count of flight from a police officer;
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order; and
  • Eight counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Marcell Divon SIMMS, 22, of Calgary has been charged with:

  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
  • One count of possession of a firearm obtained by crime.

We continue to look for information from the public regarding the dark coloured BMW car involved in the shooting, and any of its occupants. A photo of the vehicle is available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.
