Calgary, AB,

Charges laid in series of armed robberies at southeast CTrain station

We have arrested and charged a man and a woman believed to be responsible for multiple targeted violent incidents that occurred at the Anderson CTrain station platform.

On Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to witness reports of an unknown man allegedly pointing a shotgun at two citizens, and robbing one of them, at the Anderson CTrain station platform. Police circulated the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

A month later, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at approximately 5:15 a.m., a woman was assaulted at the same platform by another woman who sprayed the victim with bear spray.

Later that same day, at approximately 6 p.m., a man and a woman were assaulted by the same suspects believed to responsible for the previous incidents who attacked the victims using nunchucks and bear spray.

After collecting and reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with multiple witnesses, investigators were able to identify the two suspects.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, police arrested both suspects at a residence near Anderson station, where a firearm, ammunition, nunchucks, a bow and a homemade baton were also seized. It is believed the suspects and victims were known to each other, and these were targeted attacks.

The Calgary Police Service continues to work with The City of Calgary and Transit to address the safety issues in and around Transit locations across the city.
