Charges laid in July fatal collision

The Calgary Police Service has charged a woman in relation to a fatal pedestrian collision.

At approximately 10 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, a woman was reversing her Honda CRV out of her driveway in the 0-100 block of Hawkwood Drive N.W. when she struck a female pedestrian that was walking on the sidewalk.

The 56-year-old pedestrian was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Sharon Lynne SHWED, 70, of Calgary is charged with one count each of careless driving and unsafe backing.

Speed and alcohol were not considered to be factors in this collision.
