Charges laid in fatal pedestrian collision

The Calgary Police Service has charged one person in relation to a fatal pedestrian collision.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, a 67-year-old woman was walking south across 8 Avenue from the northwest corner of 47 Street S.E., in a marked crosswalk.

She was struck by a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica traveling east on 8 Avenue.

The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries after being transported to hospital.

Chol CHOL, 31, of Calgary is charged with careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
