Charges laid in break and enter series targeting Calgary businesses
We have charged two men with 67 criminal offences and recovered firearms, drugs and stolen property in relation to a break and enter series that occurred earlier this year.
Between Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, and Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, seven commercial break and enters occurred throughout Calgary at gaming, electronics and liquidation stores. During the incidents offenders smashed the front of the stores, causing significant damage, and stole various items, including gaming cards, electronics and knives. The total dollar loss between the break and enters was estimated to be $30,000, which includes the stolen items and property damages.
Investigators from the District 4 Break and Enter Team were able to link the break and enters to the same suspects, and on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, officers executed a search warrant on a residence located in the 1400 block of 42 Street N.E.
As a result of the search, police seized:
- A large quantity of gaming cards
- Three firearms, including a prohibited handgun, a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle
- An extended magazine
- A taser
- $35,000 worth of drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and psilocybin
- Three stolen vehicles
- Three stolen bicycles
- A stolen licence plate
- 31 stolen government issued identification documents
- Multiple vehicle keys and devices used to duplicate key fobs
- Devices used to create fraudulent documents
Two men have since been arrested and charged.
Chad SNIDER, 38, of Calgary, is charged with 49 offences, including hazardous storage of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a restricted weapon with readily available ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, break and enter, disguise with intent, possession of identity documents and failing to comply with conditions of a release order. SNIDER will next appear in court on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Coady Philip MACINTYRE, 37, of Calgary, is charged with 18 offences including break and enter, disguise with intent and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking. MACINTYRE will next appear in court on Monday, April 13, 2026.
“This was a concerning series of break and enters that caused substantial loss and disruption to seven Calgary businesses,” says S/Sgt. Keith Shufelt of the CPS District 4 General Investigations Unit. “Through diligent investigative work, our officers were able to hold those responsible accountable, while recovering stolen property and removing dangerous weapons from the street.”
