Charges laid in assault on inmate at Calgary Remand Centre

Calgary police have laid charges against two individuals in relation to an assault of an inmate that occurred at the Calgary Remand Centre on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., on Friday evening, it is alleged several men assaulted a 57-year-old man, causing serious injuries. The victim was treated on scene and then transported to hospital in non-life threatening condition. Both the alleged offenders and the victim are inmates at Remand.

Brandon RICHARDS, 34, and Connor SKIPPER, 20, have been charged with assault.

Assault charges are pending against a third individual and are anticipated to be read in court today, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017. Police will release his name once he has seen a Justice of the Peace.

A fourth man also faces assault charges. These charges are expected to be read in court in the coming weeks.
