Charges laid in 2022 homicide

Last May, we shared information about the suspicious death of 22-year-old Keanan CRANE who was discovered deceased on Sunday, May 15, 2022, near Morley, Alberta. At the time of the discovery, the identity of the victim was unknown, however investigators later confirmed the deceased to be Keanan, who had been reported missing a month earlier.

Keanan was last seen in the northwest community of Highland Park in the early hours of Thursday, April 7, 2022. His family reported him missing on Monday, April 25, 2022. Investigators believe Keanan was killed in Calgary on April 7, 2022, and then transported outside of Calgary where his remains were later discovered.

Investigators have worked tirelessly to provide answers for Keanan’s family. As a result of the lengthy and complex investigation, two men have been charged with manslaughter.

On Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, Darren BULLDOG, 39, of Calgary, was arrested and charged with one count of manslaughter.

On Monday, Feb. 21, 2023, a warrant was issued for Jason TAIT, 32, of Edmonton, who has been charged with one count of manslaughter. Yesterday, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, TAIT was arrested.

BULLDOG will next appear in court Friday, March 3, 2023, and TAIT will next appear in court Friday, March 10, 2023.

“Being able to bring answers to Keanan’s family is due in large part to the investigators who worked for months with little to no information at times,” said Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “We would like to thank Keanan’s family for working with us and trusting us to find those responsible and hold them accountable.”
