Charges laid in 2019 double homicide

Three people have been charged in relation to a 2019 double homicide.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, police were called to the 2400 block of 37 Avenue N.E., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found two men, Jasdeep SINGH, 25, and Japneet MALHI, 22, suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The victims later succumbed to their injuries.

We believe the victims had been targeted by two suspects who waited for them for more than an hour. When the victims appeared, the suspects drove in a vehicle past the victims, firing multiple rounds. Over the course of the investigation, we have also determined a third person was involved in carrying out these offences.

“Over the last two years, we have worked to piece together an investigation in which two young people lost their lives in such a calculated manner” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “Three people will now be held to account due to the diligent work of many areas of the Service, throughout this investigation.”

Amandeep SAGGU, 30, Prabhjyot BHATTI, 22, and Jaskaran SIDHU, 21, all of Calgary, have each been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm. They will appear in court on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
