Charges laid for possession of guns, drugs, and RF jammers

A Calgary man has been arrested and charged with several gun and drug trafficking offences. 

In March 2025, the Gun Violence Enforcement Team (GVET) became aware of a man believed to be in possession of firearms and engaged in drug trafficking and launched an eight-month investigation.

Early on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, we executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Edmonton Trail N.E., arresting a man and charging him with several gun and drug-related offences.

After searching the residence, we seized:

·         A loaded Glock 27 handgun

·         15.5 grams of cocaine

·         16 pills of Adderall

·         1.8 grams of crushed Xanax pills

·         $6,455 in Canadian currency

·         A High Frequency RF Jammer

·         A GPS Tracking Device with SIM card

33-year-old Travin BARTLEY, of Calgary, is now charged with:

·         Three counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking

·         One count of possession of loaded prohibited firearm

·         One count of possession of a firearm obtained by crime

·         One count of unsafe storage of a firearm

·         One count of proceeds of crime over $5,000

BARTLEY is also facing the following two charges under the Radio Communications Act, which prohibits the use of technology that unlawfully interferes with radio frequencies.

·         One count of 10 (1)(a) Possession of a Radio Jammer

·         One count of 10 (1((b) Possession of a Radio Jammer

BARTLEY is currently in custody. His next court appearance is Oct. 24, 2025.

“Guns and drugs weren’t the only items of concern that we seized during this investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Matthew Gow of the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit. “Radio jammers are not only illegal but pose a serious threat because they may disrupt police, fire, and ambulance communications which places members of the public, who rely on the timely response and actions of first responders, at risk.  That’s why removing them from the streets is so critical.”
