CHARGED: Multiple assaults in downtown Calgary

Jason Matthew McKENZIE, 28, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. He will appear in court today, Thursday, June 22, 2017.

In Custody: Multiple assaults in downtown Calgary

One man has been taken into custody in relation to a series of unprovoked assaults on men in downtown Calgary.

After a media release was issued yesterday asking for the public’s assistance, in conjunction with further investigation by the Calgary Police Service Centralized General Investigations Unit, one man was identified and arrested just before 10 p.m., on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

Charges are pending in relation to the first reported attack on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The investigation into the other two reported attacks continues. Police are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

The accused’s name will be released once he has seen a Justice of the Peace.
