Championship CFL rings stolen in car prowling

Sports memorabilia buyers and sellers are asked to keep an eye out after two CFL rings were stolen from a vehicle belonging to a Calgary Stampeder earlier this month.

On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, two rings, a 2018 Grey Cup ring and a 2018 CFL Most Outstanding Player ring were stolen from a truck parked in a parking lot located in the 3500 block of 8 Avenue N.E. The rings belong to Calgary Stampeder Bo Levi Mitchell.

Police began investigating and quickly identified a suspect with the assistance of CCTV images from Calgary Transit, however upon arrest the rings were not located. Charges are pending against the suspect.

Investigators are now asking for the public to be on the lookout for the rings, especially collectors, buyers and sellers of sports memorabilia. Photos of both rings are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

“Given the uniqueness of these rings, it is highly likely that someone in our community knows where they are or will come across them,” says Calgary Police Service Cst. Sean Lynn. “These rings represent more than just a piece of jewelry, they represent significant accomplishments and we would all like to see them returned to the rightful owner.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of these rings is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
