Celebrating and recognizing outstanding achievements - The Calgary Awards

Calgary – Recognizing outstanding achievements and contributions made for a night of celebration as The City of Calgary hosted the 24th annual Calgary Awards on June 12, 2019. The Calgary Awards are presented each year by The City of Calgary to recognize deserving individuals, corporations, community groups and organizations. The recipients of the 12 awards highlight the excellence of our community and recognize the significant contributions made by our citizens.

The Calgary Awards is The City’s official citizen recognition program celebrating Calgarians and local organizations for their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to making our city a better place to live.

Citizen of the Year recipient Bill Ptacek said, "I am incredibly humbled to receive this honour and I share this award with my family and friends, and with the Board, staff and volunteers of the Calgary Public Library. I would like to thank the City of Calgary for this award, and for welcoming my family and me so heartily when we arrived five years ago. Today, I am a proud Calgarian and I believe that what we are accomplishing every day at the Library is only possible because it is happening in this city and that our success is owed to Calgarians. The Calgary Awards remind us of the importance of community involvement and that is by far the most rewarding part of my job."

The list of 2018 Calgary Awards recipients include:

The Community Achievement Awards

The Community Achievement Awards recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in community life and provide an opportunity to honour Calgary's exceptional citizens.
