Carjacking - NW Calgary

Two people are in custody following a carjacking and police pursuit in the city's northwest.

Just before 5 a.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, officers responded to a call at Country Hills Blvd and Edgepark Blvd N.W. A man was stopped at the intersection in his vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, when he was approached by two men. The suspects allegedly produced a handgun and told the man to exit his vehicle. The man obliged and the suspects entered his vehicle.

The suspects left the scene, and were driving erratically throughout the northwest, at times going into oncoming traffic. CPS attempted to stop the vehicle at 14 Street and 5 Avenue N.W., at which time the vehicle rammed into the police vehicles and continued on.

The pursuit continued to the 1400 block of 14 Avenue N.W. where the vehicle was stopped. Two men were taken into custody. Charges are pending.
