Cancellation of Youth Hiring Fair

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The City of Calgary has cancelled the annual Youth Hiring Fair that was scheduled for April 2, 2020. Every year, more than 5,000 youth come to the fair to meet and speak with close to a hundred employers. The City of Calgary evaluated the event against the Health Canada’s risk assessment for mass gatherings. City administration determined that the risk of spreading COVID-19 was too high to safely hold the event.

The Youth Employment Centre is still in operation and is open all year, working with youth who are looking for employment by helping prepare resumes, job search, prepare for job interviews, provide industry training and connect youth with employers who are hiring. Visit youthemploymentcentre.ca or call 403-268-2490 for more information.

At the Youth Employment Centre, employees are taking precautions to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This includes frequent hand washing and cleaning surfaces often. Youth between the ages of 15 and 24 who are looking for work are still encouraged to visit the Youth Employment Centre for career advice and support. The Centre remains open at this time.
