Calgary Wild FC make MaxWell Soccer Centre their new home for training

The City of Calgary welcomes Calgary Wild FC to the MaxWell Soccer Centre as the team’s long-term home for training. The opening of the City-operated dome at the centre unlocks new opportunities for Calgary’s sport community.

Welcoming the team into the space increases the visibility of women’s professional sport, while reinforcing the role of public recreation facilities as places where positive sport experiences begin, grow and continue. This reflects The City’s commitment to supporting quality sport opportunities from first-time participation through to advanced development, while helping people stay active, connected and engaged in sport throughout their lives.

“Having Calgary Wild FC make the MaxWell Soccer Centre their homebase for training is incredibly exciting for us,” says Manager of Recreation Service Delivery, Jarret Hoebers. “We share a belief in high‑quality sport experiences, community impact and creating meaningful opportunities for women and girls in sport. That alignment makes this a special moment for everyone involved.”

The move also creates more opportunities for connection between the team and the community.

“Having a home for training at MaxWell Soccer Centre connects us directly to the community,” says President and CEO of Calgary Wild FC, Lara Murphy. “Young players can see what’s possible simply by being in the space. That visibility matters.” 

The City and Calgary Wild FC will work together throughout the year on community‑focused initiatives that open doors for girls in sport, helping them discover confidence, build skills and create positive experiences that can last a lifetime.
