Calgary police investigating suspicious death

The Calgary Police Service is investigating a suspicious death after a woman was admitted to hospital and later died.

At approximately 7 p.m., on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, police were contacted for a report that a woman had been admitted to hospital earlier in the day with significant injuries that were suspicious in nature. The woman later died at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

Based on the information received, the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit was engaged.

A home in the 3500 block of 49 Street N.W., is currently being held pending the outcome of the autopsy, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2018.

As it is still very early in the investigation, no further information is available at this time.
