Calgary man charged in shooting, arrested in Cochrane
With assistance from our partners at the Cochrane RCMP, a man who is believed to be connected to a shooting that occurred earlier this month in the southeast community of Radisson Heights has been arrested.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, police were called to a residence located in the 2800 block of 15 Avenue S.E., for reports of shots fired.
After speaking with the complainant and witnesses, it is believed that an argument between two men occurred at the residence which resulted in one man leaving and then later returning to the area in a truck. It is alleged the man then drove by while shooting in front of and behind the residence and then fled the scene prior to police arrival. No injuries were reported.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, Cochrane RCMP members located the truck used by the suspect in the community of Morley and notified Calgary police. Members of the Calgary Police Service executed a search warrant on the vehicle, and a firearm was located in the truck. The vehicle was then seized by Calgary police.
On Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, Cochrane RCMP members located and arrested the suspect who remains in custody. It is believed he is also responsible for a drive-by shooting in Morley.
As a result, Malik HOLLOWAY, 24, of Calgary, has been charged with one count each of careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, four counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of failure to comply and one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
