Calgary Fire Department responds to house fire in Falconridge

At approximately 4:20 AM on March 24th, 2025 the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a fire in a single family single story home in the community of Falconridge.  On arrival to the 70 block of Falwood Place, the CFD was met with visible smoke and fire and reports of residents still inside the home. An aggressive fire attack combined with search efforts were started immediately. The fire was quickly brought under control with ground crews while 3 residents and 2 dogs were found.

The first male resident and 2 dogs had safely self evacuated, and were been treated by Alberta Health Services (AHS). The 2 other residents, 1 male and 1 female  needed to be rescued by fire crews. The female resident in serious condition was transported to an area hospital, the male resident was in cardiac arrest, patient care was transferred to AHS where CPR was performed. Unfortunately the resident succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. 

Fire fighting efforts continue at the time of this report with salvage and overhaul to ensure the fire is completely extinguished and that there is no extension or fire spread to neighboring homes. The source home is likely a complete loss. The CFD Fire Investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

ATCO, Enmax and the Calgary Police Service (CPS) are also on scene to control the flow of utilities and assist with scene safety.
