Calgary Fire Department Responds to Fire Involving Multiple Vehicles in Fish Creek Park

At approximately 1:40pm on Thursday, August 1, Calgary 9-1-1 started receiving multiple calls for a vehicle on fire in the Fish Creek Park parking lot near the Bow River boat launch.  This parking lot is just east of Sikome Lake in the Southeast.  Calgary Fire Crews responded immediately and upon arrival found that the fire had quickly spread to two adjacent vehicles in the parking lot.  In total, three passenger vehicles were full-involved in fire with a fourth vehicle damaged due to the intense heat from the fire.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire using water and firefighting foam.  Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.  Calgary Fire is working with the Calgary Police Service to notify the owners of the vehicles.  Crews will remain on scene and are working with Fish Creek Park provincial staff to arrange for clean-up of the debris after the vehicles are removed.  A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is at the scene and is working to determine the exact origin and cause of this fire.   Traffic is not expected to be impacted from this incident.
