Calgary Fire Department Responds to Basement Fire in Albert Park Fourplex

At approximately 8:00 pm on Sunday evening, December 25th, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews were called to a basement fire in a fourplex at the 2800 block of 15 Avenue S.E. Smoke was showing from the front of the building when firefighters arrived on scene. Fire crews quickly initiated a fire attack and interior search, located one person who was removed from the basement in critical condition. The patient was assessed and transported to hospital by EMS AHS.

The fire was contained to the one basement suite and all the residents of the three other suites were able to self- evacuate without injuries.  The residents above the involved suite will be displaced due to smoke damage.

Calgary Police Service assisted with traffic control in the area. Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the night to ensure the fire is extinguished and fire investigators are conducting an investigation into the origin and cause.
