Calgary Fire Department responds to a second 2 alarm structure fire in the NW.

At approximately 4:45 this morning Calgary 911 received calls stating that the neighbors house was on fire, The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was dispatched to the 100 block of Evansmeade CM NW.

On arrival CFD reported a working fire involving 2 two story single family dwellings and called a second alarm to ensure adequate resources were on scene. Immediate efforts were taken to control the fire and to search and evacuate residents from both the source homes and exposed homes. Large aerial water streams were used on the source home and assisted in protecting neighboring homes that were exposed.

At the time of this report the 2 source homes have been significantly damaged by fire and minor damage due to heat on 3 exposed homes. 3 adults and 6 children have safely been evacuated from the source homes while searches have confirmed that all residents are safely evacuated from neighboring homes. CFD investigator is on scene working to determine the cause and origin of the fire,  fire crews will remain on scene to manage salvage on overall operations. 

Calgary Police Services (CPS), Alberta Health Services (AHS) are on scene to assist with scene safety and the health and wellness of residents. No injuries to residents or first responders have been reported.

ATCO and Enmax are on scene controlling the flow of utilities in the area.
