Calgary Fire Department Responds to a House Fire in Brentwood

Calgary Fire Department Responds To House Fire in Brentwood

At approximately 6:30 pm this evening Calgary fire crews were called to a structure fire in the 5000 block of Brenner Drive NW. Residents were alerted to a fire in the roof following a lightning strike. Smoke and fire were present when firefighters arrived on the scene. Firefighters quickly initiated an interior fire attack and search and were able to knock down and control the main body of fire. Crews needed to open up the roof in order to gain access to the fire in the attic. All occupants were able to safely exit the residence and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Enmax and Atco were present to assist with securing the utilities to the home. AHS was on scene to assist with any medical concerns.

Fire crews including a fire investigator will remain on scene throughout the evening to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
