Calgary Fire Crews Fight Auburn Bay Garage Fire

At approximately 6:35 in the morning on Tuesday, February 14th,  multiple calls were made to 9-1-1- reporting flames coming from a garage located on Auburn Bay Manor South East.  Reports from witnesses state that a resident was trying to use an extinguisher to fight the fire but was overwhelmed by the flames. The fire continued to grow and was fueled by some of the contents in the garage.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the garage was fully involved with fire and spreading to the house on the same property. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and stopped flames from spreading to other neighbouring buildings. No injuries were reported however three residents are temporarily displaced. The rear of the house  sustained some fire damage including broken windows.

The garage where the fire originated is completely destroyed and heat damage to nearby buildings resulted in melted vinyl siding. Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigators attended the scene to investigate the origin and cause of this fire. Anybody who has photos, video or information is encouraged to email piofire@calgary.ca to help with the investigation.
