At approximately 6:15 this evening, 9-1-1 started receiving calls regarding a house fire on Deer Run Drive SE. When fire crews arrived, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm due to the volume of fire and also because flames had already spread to the neighbouring house. Fire crews worked hard in very challenging conditions to bring the fire under control. Four homes in total have been affected by fire displacing five residents. Two of the homes will be reoccupied later this evening while two others were significantly damaged. Crews remain on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations. One female adult was assessed and transported for observation by Alberta Health Services (AHS) . No other injuries to residents or emergency responders have been reported. ATCO Gas and Enmax attended the scene to assist with the flow of utilities. Due to a damaged gas meter ATCO will need to replace the meter before the scene will be safe to reoccupy. Fire investigators are on scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire.
