Calgary fire crews battle house fire in the Hamptons N.W.

At approximately 12:45 on the afternoon of Thursday,  September 8,  Calgary fire crews were called to a home undergoing renovations on Hampshire Grove N.W. for reports of flames and smoke coming from the roof.  Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy dark smoke and flames coming from the roof of the residence. Two residents and two workers were in the house at the time of the fire however they were able to safely evacuate the building without injuries.

At one point in the firefighting efforts, fire crews withdrew from the structure  for their own safety and fought the fire defensively due to an impending roof collapse.  Once the flames were brought under control, firefighters went back inside and completed a thorough search of the structure. No people or animals were found inside.

No injuries were reported however a family of four with two dogs  are now displaced as a result of this fire. Damage to the house is significant as a large part of the roof collapsed into the second floor.

A fire investigator is at the scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire.  Anybody with photos or video of the fire especially prior to CFD  (Calgary Fire Department) arrival on scene is asked to send them to piofire@calgary.a
