Calgary Animal Services to Host Post-Thanksgiving Adoptathon: October 17-19
The City of Calgary’s Animal Services Centre is excited to announce its Post-Thanksgiving Adoptathon, running from October 17-19. After a festive Thanksgiving, the shelter is stuffed with cats and dogs needing loving homes!
For three days, adoption fees will be lowered to make it easier than ever to welcome a new furry friend into your family. Cats are available for just $50, and dogs for $75. Each adopted pet will come spayed or neutered, microchipped for identification, with a twelve-month City of Calgary license, and will have their first set of vaccinations.

Hours: October 17 & 18 – 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., October 19 – 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Calgary Animal Services Centre, 2201 Portland Street S.E.
This is a perfect opportunity to add a new family member while supporting Calgary’s efforts to create more space in the shelter for other animals in need. The adoptathon is part of an ongoing effort to find homes for the large number of pets currently in the City’s care.
“We are over capacity at the shelter and we know these pets will make wonderful companions,” said Ashley De Nooij, Coordinator of Administration & Pet Licensing of Calgary Animal Services. “By lowering adoption fees, we hope to encourage more people to adopt, helping us provide a safe and loving environment for all our animals. Each adoption truly makes a difference.”
Potential adopters can view available pets on the City of Calgary’s Animal Services website ahead of the event. This is a unique opportunity to give a homeless animal a forever home while enjoying significant savings.
