Calgarians: What to expect during the Rotary International Convention
Following Calgary’s moment in the global spotlight with the G7 Summit, our city is ready to shine even brighter as we welcome the Rotary International Convention from June 21 to 25. This world-class event, taking place on Stampede Park, will bring over 15,000 delegates representing more than 120 countries to Calgary.
Tourism Calgary and The City of Calgary are asking Calgarians to welcome guests with a smile, extend our western hospitality whenever possible, and be patient as you move around the city.

With Rotary members exploring all that our city has to offer, Calgarians will see an exciting influx of visitors in traditional attire, moving through our streets, and embracing Calgary’s welcoming spirit.
Whether it’s a friendly smile, a helpful hello, or simply giving directions to Stampede Park, every interaction is a chance to show why Calgary is known worldwide for its hospitality.
Economic Impact and Local Benefits
This event is expected to contribute more than $81 million to Calgary’s economy, boosting business for our hotels, restaurants, transportation services, local attractions, retailers, and event venues.
What Calgarians Should Expect:
- Increased pedestrians downtown
- Extra time needed at Calgary International Airport and heightened demand for Calgary Transit, rideshare, and taxis
- Heavier traffic near the airport, downtown core, and along key routes, especially during rush hours
Travel Tips for a Smooth Experience:
- Allow extra travel time from June 20 through June 25
- Consider biking, walking, or carpooling to reduce congestion
- Use available tools and resources to plan your trips efficiently
Calgary Transit Updates:
- C-Train service will be increased June 21–25, running every seven minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes off-peak
- Expect possible crowding during busy times—please be patient and take the opportunity to connect with fellow riders
- Extra Calgary Transit staff will be on hand downtown to assist and manage crowds
