Calgarians invited to Beacons of Hope 2024

The following release is being shared on behalf of the Beacons of Hope Committee.

The Beacons of Hope Committee is pleased to invite all Calgarians to the third annual Beacons of Hope – a free family party celebrating those who keep us safe – on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from noon to 5 p.m. at McMahon Stadium.

This community event includes displays, demonstrations, activities, fun competitions, an inflatable obstacle course, inflatable axe throwing, face painters, food trucks and live entertainment featuring a band comprised of Calgary Police Service members, Frontline, and the traditional Celtic music with an east coast flare from Morrissey’s Private Stock.

Discover several displays of police equipment including patrol cars, motorcycles, mounted patrol (horses), armoured vehicles, duty gear, tactical gear, etc., and displays and activities from the Calgary Police YouthLink Interpretive Centre.

A highlight of the event takes place at 2 p.m., with the Battle of the Beacons – a series of fun competitions for all ages including three-legged races and sack races, culminating with the Challenge the Chief tug-of-war.

People will have an opportunity to meet with their local Calgary Police Service members in a positive environment, shake their hands, and thank them for the work they do every day to keep the city safe.

Calgarians are also invited to show their support by leaving a message of appreciation on the Beacons of Hope website. Help us let the members of the Calgary Police Service know what they mean to Calgarians.
