Bodies found in vehicle believed to be victims of shooting

Homicide Unit detectives continue to investigate after two men were found deceased inside of a vehicle as a result of a targeted shooting.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, police were called to the 1000 block of Marcombe Drive N.E., for reports of a suspicious vehicle that had been left running on the street. Upon arrival, officers located two men deceased inside the vehicle.

It is believed that the vehicle had been parked on the street since last night, Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, and the two men were shot to death between 9 and 9:30 p.m.

Autopsies are scheduled to be conducted tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, and Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.

“This was a violent and targeted incident that resulted in the death of two individuals.” Says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “While we are in the early stages of this investigation, this shooting has the hallmarks of organized crime. We are committed to keeping our community safe and asking anyone with information to contact police.”

Anyone who was in the area of Marcombe Drive N.E., between 9 and 9:30 p.m., including taxis and other vehicles that may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact police.
