Bankview death declared homicide, victim identified

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance to locate a man who may have information about a death earlier this week, which has now been declared a homicide.

On Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, a man walked into a Calgary Fire Department station on 10 Avenue S.W. saying he needed help for his roommate. Firefighters drove the man back to a home in the 1800 block of 17 Street S.W., where they located a deceased man and contacted police at approximately 1:30 p.m.

An autopsy completed Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, confirmed the manner of death as homicide and identified the victim as Richard PEMBER, 58, of Calgary.

As the investigation has progressed, detectives have identified another man believed to have information about what may have occurred within the residence. Multiple attempts to locate this person have failed and investigators are turning to the public for assistance in locating him.

UPDATE: The man has spoken to investigators and police no longer need help locating him.
