Calgary, AB,

Attempted murder suspect arrested

Investigators have arrested a man wanted on attempted murder charges related to a road rage incident last month.

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at approximately 8:10 a.m., we received calls from citizens driving in the area of Stoney Trail and Nose Hill Drive northwest, who reported seeing what appeared to be two vehicles involved in a road rage incident, which is believed to have then escalated to a firearm being discharged.

After reviewing evidence and gathering CCTV footage, investigators identified the shooting suspect as Anthony Gregory FAVELL, 22. He was arrested yesterday, Mar. 1, 2022, and taken into custody.

In relation to this incident, FAVELL faces charges of attempted murder, pointing a firearm, and discharging a firearm with intent.

In addition, FAVELL was wanted on separate charges related to an arson incident that took place in October 2021.

On Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at approximately 3:25 a.m., police responded to a break and enter call at the Dawa Medical Clinic located at 5268 Marlborough Drive N.E. Upon arrival, officers discovered the business was engulfed in flames at which time the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was notified and attended the scene. After the fire was extinguished, the attending CFD Fire Investigator advised officers that the fire was suspicious, and our Arson Unit was engaged to investigate.

CCTV footage was collected from the scene of the fire and officers identified a male suspect which investigators believed to be Anthony Gregory FAVELL.

FAVELL has now been charged with one count of arson related to the above incident.

We would like to thank the public and media for their support with these investigations. The information citizens and witnesses shared with our investigators played an important part in leading to FAVELL’s arrest. We believe there may be additional people involved and ask anyone with information to call Crime the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.
