Attempted murder charges laid following weekend shooting

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man and woman with attempted murder after a shooting in Marlborough yesterday.

Just before 2 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of Marlyn Place N.E., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, three people were taken into custody for questioning, and one man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. The victim’s condition was later upgraded to stable but serious.

The investigation into this shooting continues, however, at this time detectives believe this was a targeted shooting and that the parties involved were known to each other.

Robert William LINFOOT, 41, of Calgary, has been charged with attempted murder, break and enter to commit robbery and obstruction.

Kayla HELLSTROM, 23, of Calgary, has been charged with attempted murder and break and enter to commit robbery.

The third individual has been released from custody without charges at this time. This investigation is in the early stages and no other information is available. Further charges are likely to be laid.
