Attempted home invasion robbery while impersonating a police officer

Although details are limited as this case is currently under investigation, the Calgary Police Service is alerting citizens to a report of two people forcing their way into a home by claiming they were police.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, two men began banging on the front door of a home in the 1400 block of Renfrew Drive N.E. The men appeared dressed in police uniforms and forced their way into the home when the occupants opened the door. The residents challenged the validity of the suspect’s claims and a brief confrontation occurred before the suspects fled.

At this time police believe this may have been a random incident.

Citizens unsure of the validity of a police officer are encouraged to ask to see visible identification with photograph, or call either 9-1-1 or the non-emergency number 403-266-1234 to confirm the officer’s identity.

No further information is available about the investigation at this time.
