Adult and youth charged in theft from Chinook Mall

We have charged one adult and one youth in relation to a theft that occurred at Chinook Mall last month.

At approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, it is believed that an adult and a youth entered The Bay at Chinook Mall, located at 6455 Macleod Tr. S.W., stole two high-end winter coats, and left the store. When they were followed by security officers, it is believed that the adult suspect produced a knife and threatened the officers, before leaving the scene.

Staff at the store contacted police and the suspects were located a short distance away, in possession of the stolen merchandise.

As a result of the investigation, Bobby BURNS, 20, has been charged with assault, theft under $5,000 and carrying a concealed weapon.

One youth, 16, has been charged with theft under $5,000. He cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March. 5, 2024.
