98 charges laid in mailbox theft investigation

Two men have been charged following an investigation into a series of recent mailbox break-ins throughout the city’s northeast.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, we responded to the area of Skyview Point Heath and Skyview Point Green N.E., for reports of two men actively breaking into community mailboxes. Through the assistance of HAWCS, members quickly located the suspects’ vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, a large quantity of mail believed to be stolen from mailboxes was located along with break-and-enter tools. Both men were arrested and taken into custody.

More than 35 victims are believed to be impacted by these thefts. Stolen items including cheques, credit cards and identification documents were seized by investigators.

Kulwinder SINGH, 35, of Chestermere, is charged with:

· 38 counts of theft of mail
· Three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
· One count of mischief under $5,000
· One count of possession of break-in instruments
· One count of possession of a stolen credit card

He will next appear in court on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Jagroop SINGH, 27, of Calgary, is charged with:

· 38 counts of theft of mail
· Six counts of possession of a stolen credit card
· Two counts of possession of identity documents
· Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
· Two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
· One count of mischief under $5,000
· One count of disguise with intent
· One count of possession of break-in instruments
· One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

He will next appear in court on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
