  • All parade roadways are expected to reopen by approximately 2 p.m.
  • Roads will remain closed until the entire parade route is cleared and safe for public use.

Alternate routes into downtown

To help reduce congestion, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes outside the parade area.

If you are travelling from:

  • The west: use 5 Avenue or 12 Avenue to bypass closures
  • The east: avoid East Village and follow detours to 11 Street S.W.
  • The north or south: use major routes such as Deerfoot Trail, Crowchild Trail, Blackfoot Trail or 16 Avenue.

Follow all posted detour signs and traffic control direction on-site.

Closures, detours and access restrictions can affect how you move through downtown on Parade Day.

Before travelling:

Parking lot closures

During the parade, there will be limited access to several Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots along the route.

  • Some locations close as early as the day before for event preparation
  • Additional closures take place at 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Parade Day
  • Access will be restored once roads reopen (approx. 2 p.m.)

For details about parking impacts, visit the Parade Day parking page.

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit offers extended service during Stampede, making it one of the most reliable ways to get around during busy periods.

CTrain service runs 24 hours a day throughout Stampede, helping you get to early morning events and home safely after late-night celebrations.

Downtown stations and nearby stops provide direct access to Stampede Park and major event areas.

Before you travel, check routes, schedules and service updates to plan your trip.
