2025 General Election worker applications now open

Elections Calgary is hiring approximately 4,500 election workers for the 2025 General Election. The application portal opens today, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025.

“Elections Calgary is looking for customer-focused individuals who are passionate about their community and interested in the democratic process. Election workers will help ensure the voting process is legislatively compliant, accessible and efficient,” said Kate Martin, The City of Calgary’s Returning Officer.

All election worker positions are paid positions. Stand-by election workers will also be hired to ensure all positions are filled during the Advance Vote and on Election Day.

Individuals do not have to be Canadian citizens to work the 2025 General Election, but they must be:

  • Eligible to work in Canada,
  • 16 years of age or older,
  • Available to complete a training session in September or October 2025, and
  • Available to work extended hours during Advance Vote (Oct. 6-11, 2025), and/or on Election Day (Oct. 20, 2025).

Individuals who meet these qualifications and would like to be a part of the Elections Calgary team can complete an application at electionscalgary.ca/work. For more information, visit electionscalgary.ca or call 403-476-4100. Due to the expected volume of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.

Elections Calgary is a division of the City Clerk’s Office responsible for independently and impartially administering the Returning Officer’s accountabilities in General Elections, by-elections and votes of the electors on behalf of The City of Calgary, the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District.
