2025 General Election- Election Day unofficial voter turnout (9:30 p.m.)
Oct. 20, 2025 is Election Day, and all voting stations in Calgary were open between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Unofficial turnout includes voting stations outside of Calgary for the separate trustee election.
As of 9:30 p.m., voter turnout was 202,424. Any voters that were in line at 8 p.m. will have the opportunity to vote.
Election workers must check eligibility on the Permanent Electors Register (PER), a new legislative requirement and issue up to three individual ballots. Election workers are also required to update the PER if a voter’s information changed (e.g. change in address or a change in name). Any voter who wished to vote in a trustee election, who was not on the PER, or who did not have government-issued photo ID also had to make a statement. If a voter was on the PER, they did not have to fill out a statement. However, Form 13 (Electors Register) is required to be completed by the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) for every voter to account for the ballots issued (whether mayor, councillor or school board trustee). Unofficial and official results
After ballots cast from each voting opportunity are hand counted by election officials, unofficial results are checked and required forms are completed. Then, unofficial results are entered into a system and posted to the unofficial results web page, as they become available.
The next unofficial results report and counting timeline will be available at approximately 1 a.m. on Oct. 21.
Elections Calgary anticipates that all unofficial results for mayor, councillors and public and separate school board trustees will be available the evening of Oct. 21, 2025.
