2022 Calgary Police Half Marathon set to run this weekend

Come out and support participants of the Calgary Police Half Marathon!

Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, marks the 42nd annual Calgary Police Half Marathon, which includes a half marathon,10 km and five km distance races.

The iconic race has been a staple in the Calgary running community since 1980 and is continually evolving to ensure participants at various athletic abilities are challenged.

Once again, the Calgary Police Half Marathon has partnered with the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, which aims to educate children and youth about good citizenship, safe communities, policing and avoiding victimization and criminality. Proceeds raised will support the Calgary Police Youth Foundation’s programs that help create a community where all children and youth have the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

The Calgary Police Half Marathon also makes an annual donation to the Mount Royal University Bursary Program. Since 2000, the race has contributed more than $100,000 to the program, and students in a variety of faculties have benefited from financial aid through the program. We are proud of this partnership and the aid it has provided.

The race begins at 8 a.m., and the route will start at Mount Royal University and run into communities south of the campus and around the Glenmore Reservoir, before looping back along the same route towards to the finish line. See the race map here.

Commuters near Mount Royal University can expect higher traffic volumes and an increase in pedestrian traffic on Sunday morning due to the race.
