2 alarm fire in Calgary NE
On April 20th, 2025 at approximately 4:45 AM the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a building on fire. Crews arrived at the corner of McDougall Rd and 9A St. NE to find smoke and fire showing on the 5th floor of a 6 story building under construction. Because of the large complex, spanning nearly 2 blocks, a second alarm was called to ensure adequate resources were on scene.
A coordinated fire attack using both interior crews and elevated fire streams was started to bring the fire under control prior to starting searches to ensure the building was unoccupied. The fire was located in a large room on the 5th floor used to store construction equipment and tools. At the time of this report the fire is under control and crews are ventilating smoke from the structure.
Due to the stage of construction, there were no residents in the structure and no injuries reported by civilians or firefighters.
Alberta Health Service (AHS) and Calgary Police Service (CPS) are both on scene to help with possible injuries and assist with the safety of the area.
Enmax and ATCO are on scene to assist with the control and flow of utilities.
