12 Avenue S.W. cycle track extension now open

12 Ave SW Cycletrack to Bow River (2)

Construction on the 12 Avenue S.W. Improvements project wrapped up on the weekend, marking the completion of the west section of the 12 Avenue S cycle track, between 14 and 19 Street S.W.

With the new cycle track open, cyclists and pedestrians in the Beltline now have a new way to travel between 12 Avenue S.W. and the Bow River Pathway. The new addition provides a dedicated cycling facility separated from vehicle traffic, for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Improvements to 12 Avenue S.W. were implemented in three phases, with the first two segments between 4 Street and 15 Street S.W. completed in 2019.

12 Avenue South is one of the top five busiest bikeways in Calgary, with approximately 975,000 trips logged at the nearby 8 Street S.W. count station since 2015.
