107 charges laid in stolen vehicle investigation
We have charged several people after an investigation into a series of vehicle thefts.
In December 2025, police became aware that a prolific offender on probation was in possession of a stolen vehicle.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the offender and several associates broke into five autobody shops over two weeks, stealing nine vehicles and causing extensive damage in the process. In one case, the suspect stole a tow truck from a residential driveway and used it to smash through the exterior wall of a business to gain access to the vehicles inside.
The same group of suspects also broke into multiple homes, stealing tools and designer handbags among other things.
On Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, we arrested three people at a short-term rental property downtown.
Two days later, we arrested three more people connected to the investigation at a different property.
During the arrests, we recovered several stolen items as well as cash, two firearms and ammunition. Photos of some of the seized items are attached.
Fourteen vehicles have been determined to be stolen by this group and all have been recovered.
The value of the stolen vehicles ranges from $8,000 to $70,000.
