Youth Employment Centre now open for in-person appointments

The Youth Employment Centre (YEC) is now open for in-person appointments for youth, aged 15-24, looking for free resume support and employment counselling. YEC previously paused in-person appointments in mid-March due to COVID-19 but were still able to help more than 1,000 youth through phone and virtual appointments.

As part of the reopening, YEC is asking job seekers to observe current health and safety measures aligned to the Alberta Health Services guidelines for Stage 2 reopening. YEC is managing capacity to ensure appropriate physical distancing and other safety requirements are followed.

In addition, in accordance with The City’s new temporary bylaw mandating face coverings in public indoor spaces, job seekers and staff will be required to wear face coverings at all times when inside the YEC.

Access to YEC is now by appointment only and must be made in advance. Youth who would like to schedule an in-person appointment must visit Calgary.ca/YEC or call 403-268-2490.

“We encourage any youth between the ages of 15 and 24 who would like help looking for a job, preparing for an interview and accessing the workforce to make an appointment,” says Jaspreet Sandhu, Team Lead for the Youth Employment Centre. “Job seekers will notice some changes when they visit us, but it’s all designed to help protect the health and safety of staff and youth while still creating a positive learning environment.”

YEC is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is located on the second floor of the Alberta Trade Centre (315 10 Ave. S.E.).
